Is your TV power light blinking, but no picture appears on the screen? A few months back, I also faced this problem on my Vizio TV, and in this guide, I’ll tell you some easy and quick methods to fix the issue.

Vizio is a famous American that has redefined the home entertainment experience since its inception. It manufactures high-quality 4K UHD televisions in the affordable price range.

Despite excellent build quality, some customers encounter minor software and hardware glitches on various Vizio TV models. One such common issue is a blank screen and no picture.

Vizio TV Screen Has No Picture

Why Is My Vizio TV Power Light Blinking But Has No Picture?

Your Vizio TV power button is blinking but has no picture on the screen for several reasons. It includes software glitches, faulty HDMI cables, power supply issues, mute screens, connected device problems, or backlight failures.

How To Fix Vizio TV No Picture Problem?

I know it’s frustrating if you’re planning to watch a Netflix show, but your TV screen goes blank. Here are some quick troubleshooting methods to fix the blank screen problem:

1. Power Cycle the Television

Smart TVs are a combination of hardware and software. A smart TV works with proper communication between the TV hardware and software.

Sometimes, you’re not getting a picture because your TV has minor software bugs. This problem resolves after power cycling your television.

Vizio TV Power Button

To power cycle a Vizio smart TV, follow these steps:

  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Press the power button for 10 seconds or wait for 40 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the TV.

All the minor software bugs will be resolved after power cycling, and your TV will start showing pictures again. If the problem isn’t resolved, head over to the subsequent fixes.

2. Change Wall Outlet

A TV requires sufficient voltage to run all its hardware components. Sometimes, a faulty wall outlet doesn’t supply the power, and the TV screen doesn’t appear.

I recommend you unplug the TV power cord, insert it into a different wall outlet, and press the power button.

In most cases, these two methods fix the blank screen problem on any smart TV. If the issue persists, jump to our next troubleshooting step.

3. Unmute TV Screen

Vizio TV Remote

Vizio provides a mute screen feature to turn off the TV screen if you’re streaming audio applications like Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music, etc.

This feature will switch off the screen to save electricity consumption while audio continues to play.

If you have unintentionally muted the screen, then the power light will blink, but no picture will appear. In order to get the picture, you need to unmute the screen first.

Press and hold the mute/unmute button on your TV remote for 3 to 5 seconds to activate and deactivate this feature.

4. Replace HDMI Cable

Vizio TV HDMI Port

Have you plugged in an HDMI device like a Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, or Android TV Box to your Vizio TV?

The issue might be with the HDMI cable or the device connected to your TV.

To inspect this, press the Menu button on your Vizio remote, and if the menu option appears, it means the issue lies in the external device, not the TV.

Unplug the HDMI device and replace the cable. You can also try inserting it into a different HDMI port.

5. Claim Warranty

If your TV screen is black but it has sound, it indicates that the backlight on your TV has gone bad, and you should proceed with the warranty claim.

Click here to validate your warranty and request for service. If it’s out of warranty, then you can buy a backlight replacement from Amazon and replace it yourself.

I use Amazon Fire TV Stick on my Vizio TV because I love its minimalistic and clean user interface. I replaced the HDMI extender cable where the Fire TV was plugged in, and the TV screen started showing pictures. You can also try the above troubleshooting methods. If nothing helps, please contact the Vizio customer support team for a warranty claim.
