How To Connect Govee Strip Lights To Alexa
Govee strip lights work perfectly with the smartphone app and Alexa’s voice commands. However, some customers faced difficulties while setting up due to a lack of knowledge.
Follow these steps to connect any Govee smart lights with Alexa:
1. Download Govee Home App
Govee Home is an app that lets you manage all your smart devices. You can connect a new Govee device, check the device status in real-time, and enjoy the artistry & magic of lighting effects.

The Govee Home smartphone app is available for both Android and iPhone. You can install it from the Play Store or App Store.
2. Allow Bluetooth Access Permission
Once the Govee Home app has been installed on your smartphone, go to the apps drawer and launch it.
It will ask for Bluetooth access permission to scan nearby Govee devices. Tap the OK button.

3. Accept Apps Usage Agreement
In the next step, a User Agreement and Privacy Policy popup will appear on the screen. Accept the User Agreement to proceed further.

4. Add Device
Click on the (+) icon on the top right corner of your app’s screen to add a new device.

Next, you’ll see plenty of device lists but select the correct strip light model. The model is already printed on the LED strip lights box.

If your device model is unavailable on the front screen, tap the search icon and type the model number, such as H6121, H6109, H6110, H6199, etc.
6. Allow Location Access
The Govee Home app will ask your location permission to discover the WiFi network and nearby devices. Tap the Allow Once or Allow While Using App button to continue.

In order to manage your devices, you need a Govee cloud account. Enter your username and password to log in if you already have a Govee account.
Otherwise, tap the Create an Account button to sign up for a new account.

8. Enter Email Address
I don’t have a Govee account because I ordered it from Amazon. So, I’ll create a fresh account to manage my Govee lights.

If you also ordered Govee lights from Amazon, create a fresh Govee account. Enter your email address to create a fresh account.
9. Create Password
You’ll receive a verification code once you enter your email address and tap the continue button. Enter the four-digit verification code and create a strong password (combination of upper case, lower case, number, and special characters).

10. Power On LED Strips
Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet and insert the adapter plug into the Govee strip light hub.

Again, you must select the strip light model number to continue and wait until the app scans the nearby devices.
11. Select Strip Light
The app will discover all nearby Govee LED strip lights within a few seconds. Tap on the device name that you want to pair.

12. Rename Your Light
Next, you’ll get an option to rename the paired device. I’m proceeding with the default name, but you must give it a proper name, such as LED, TV light, kitchen light, bedroom light, etc.

13. Connect to WiFi Network
Next, connect your smartphone to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network and select it in the Govee app. Enter the password to connect your Govee strip light to the WiFi network.
